Behind the Scenes: Technology

Running on Drupal CMS

Jan14

For studiolampion.com's relaunch, we wanted to come up with something special and widen the site's scope: Add some features here and there, a new section to write about or productions and make everything more dynamic.

Before the re-design we'd been running the site on WordPress. The software served us well, but it became clear along the path that we would have to part ways. It worked, but it's design was really starting to get in the way of our expaning needs.
We required something a bit more robust and flexible, and, thankfully, Drupal is there to fill that need. It took a lot of fiddling with the huge number of available plug-ins and getting a multi-language site online is harder than it should be, but overall we're very happy with the system.

A much bigger problem was getting the site to (somewhat) work in Internet Explorer 6... we now have it in an at least acceptable state. Some elements are all over the place, most effects are disabled and it's slow as hell - but I guess it's readable.
