Lost for Words

The concept and basic story-line for this animated short were developed in late 2004 by Stefan Minning and Matthias Koenig.
Over the years we have been working on and off on this project and produced a huge number of concept paintings, models and renders, as seen below.

This film follows a traditional anime style in its look as well as story-telling and as such borrows elements from many known and less known Japanese animation features.

Lost for Words tells the story of the schoolgirl Hana who is literally lost for words when it comes to composing a difficult essay in English class. With little time to spare, she must come up with something to write about before the ring of the bell...

Originally, we had planned to make this a short film of about 4 minutes. Due to the depth and complexity of the story, it has become necessary to reassess the whole project and aim for a longer format.
We intend to complete this film one day when our production facilities have reached the size necessary to accomodate a project of the scale we have envisioned for Lost for Words.
