Bagel 2

Bagel 2 is the first animated short film produced by Studio Lampion founders Stefan Minning and Matthias Koenig in the year 2004. This film was created during their college years in Berlin.

Bagel 2 tells the story of the small European robot Bagel 2, who's mission to Mars goes horribly wrong in more ways than one.

Read The Making of Bagel 2 for more information and a look behind the production of our first short film.

Having arrived on the red planet, Bagel finds himself stuck in a crater, hardly able to see above the rim. Without much else to do, Bagel decides to examine his surroundings.

Bagel 2 has arrived

While Bagel is busy making no discoveries of importance whatsoever, the much larger American space ship Bob is approaching fast.

So when Bagel spots the fiery glow in the sky, it's already too late... Bagel cannot escape his fate and is trapped beneath Bob in the small crater where he first landed. No matter that, in the meantime, Bagel 2 managed to find a source of water on Mars... that information probably never made it back to the headquarters.

Now what, lil' Bagel?

This film was shown on several international short film festivals. Bagel 2 was also featured on The Shorts Drawer, 3DTotal's compilation of the best animated shorts and trailers.
